My name is Sean Peters and I am humbled and honored to serve as your new pastor beginning July 1. I have been praying for you all since we got the news that we were going to be appointed to serve you. I have prayed for Steve and Kelly knowing how difficult transition is, and I have prayed that I would be able to simply be the pastor that you need me to be as we move into the future together. I will never be able to replace Steve, but I give you my word that I will be the very best Sean that I can be for you, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will fulfill God’s will for RUMC together!
I am an ordained elder in the Alabama West Florida Conference. I hold a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida Atlantic University. I have lived most of my life in Florida, but am excited to become part of the Baldwin County community, the Eastern Shore and the great state of Alabama!
I have been married to my amazing wife Sandra for 25 years and we have two wonderful children: Courtney is 21 and heading in to her senior year at Florida State University, and Quentin just turned 20 and will be heading in to his sophomore year at Tallahassee Community College. We have a 12 year old chow mix named Nikki and a 13 year old (very overweight) cat named Sissy.
I cannot express to you in this short letter how excited I am to be a part of this church and to watch what God will do with us as we are faithful to serve Him. I believe that RUMC is poised to be an even brighter beacon of light and hope to this community, and cannot wait to see what God will do as we follow His lead! I conclude my introductory letter with my favorite passage of Scripture: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." – John 13.34-35
I look forward to seeing you all on July 3 and serving as your pastor!
In His Service; Pastor Sean
